History of Bible Translations. Part 2. How the English Translation of the Holy Bible was Launched in 1611AD.

Why was the ancient Roman Catholic Church Clergy so angry, they exhumed, burnt, and scattered the remains of John Wycliffe who died of natural causes in 1384AD, as an act of condemnation? Then, to escape matyrdom, translators of the Geneva Bible fled to Geneva in 1560AD. But others like Thomas Cranmer, Nicholas Ridley, Hugh Latimer, and William Tyndale were not so lucky. They were burnt at the stake! Why? (Also see Part 1 of the History of Bible Translation).

In the eyes of the ancient Roman Catholic Church Clergy, William Tyndale for example did not only commit the heresy of translating the New Testament, he even substituted Church language like ‘do penance’ to ‘repent’ in his translation. A development the Church Clergy viewed as directly undermining its lucrative pursuit of wealth and control. It was as Tyndale died on the stake that he looked to heaven and prayed, “Lord, open the King of England’s eyes.” The Lord God heard.

Sixty-eight years later on 2nd July 1604, King James IV of England sent a letter requesting Bishop Bancroft the archbishop of Canterbury, all English churchmen, and other of his subjects to make donations to his project. The King composed translation committees made up of scholars to translate the Latin Bible into the common English language. The scholarly and meticulous attention to details, and deep reverence for God’s word demonstrated by the translators, solidified the KJV’s place as a landmark achievement in the history of Bible translations. The work was completed in 1611AD, and the king launched for mass production and distribution, what is popularly known today as the King James Version of the Holy Bible. Who will do today for ‘The One Gospel Bible,’ and ‘The Book of Revelation Explained’ what King James did for the English translation of the holy Bible in 1611AD?

The labor of the courageous translators like William Tyndale, and of donors like King James who could see beyond smokescreens to what God was doing in every generation, have laid the foundation for everyone in the world to own a Bible. They also transformed the spiritual landscape of the world, so that as Christianity continues to spread, so does access to the sacred Scripture that point everyone to God and His holy ways. It is to strengthen global spiritual transformation and reveal all mysteries, to implement God’s purpose and priority, that the Lord has approved the mass production and distribution of the two unique Scriptures, ‘The One Gospel Bible’ and the ‘Book of Revelation Explained.’ These first-of-its-kind Scriptures display the power of God to perform the wonder of transforming human character and lives for generations.
